Zebra Minds Psychiatry

About

Hello, my name is TJ. I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I provide telehealth psychiatry in the state of Tennessee. We’re all on our own unique journey, shaped by our backgrounds and goals. I aim to understand both and collaborate with you in the present to create meaningful change. I specialize in working with individuals navigating complex medical conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, MCAS, autoimmune disorders, and other health issues that often impact mental well-being. My ideal client is someone motivated to improve their life and who may have felt dismissed, misunderstood, or unheard by other providers. I’m here to offer support, validation, and a space where your experiences are taken seriously. I specialize in Psychiatric Medication Management with a holistic approach. With a background in physical therapy, exercise physiology, nursing, and psychiatry, I integrate traditional medications with nutrition, exercise, lifestyle support, brief therapy, and autism assessments. I’m also certified in Nutritional Psychiatry and Low Dose Naltrexone. Traditional medicine says, “When you hear hoofbeats, think horses—not zebras.” But I work with the zebras. If you’ve struggled to find a provider who truly listens, cares, and seeks the root cause, I’d be honored to support you. Please feel free to reach out.

EDS Healthcare in New Jersey

New Jersey has no in-state EDS Center of Excellence. Mount Sinai South Nassau Chiari EDS Center in Oceanside, New York is the nearest Center of Excellence for northern New Jersey patients. The NYIT EDS/Hypermobility Treatment Center is also accessible from northern New Jersey. Southern New Jersey patients can access CHOP and Penn State Health's EDS Program in Pennsylvania.

New Jersey's location is actually an advantage — most residents are within 1-2 hours of multiple EDS programs in New York and Pennsylvania. The main challenge is navigating out-of-state insurance coverage and choosing among the available programs. Central New Jersey patients have access to both New York and Philadelphia options.

Finding Mental Health for EDS

Look for a therapist who has worked with chronic illness patients and understands that EDS-related anxiety and depression often have physical triggers, not just psychological ones.
