Integrative / Functional Medicine specialist

Weldon Wellness / The Light Clinic

About

I am licensed as a physician in Oregon and work over telemedicine with neurodivergent and chronically ill clients across the United States as a health coach, including people with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and its associated conditions (POTS, MCAS, etc). I provide trauma-informed naturopathic consulting and coaching services, using herbs, nutrition, education, movement, and health counseling, to establish and embody a concept of wellness that includes neurodivergent and disabled populations, and support clients in navigating the healthcare system as they see specialists for diagnosis and treatment. For clients living in central Kentucky, I also specialize in craniosacral therapy and mind/body medicine in person at The Light Clinic in Frankfort, KY. There is increasing evidence of the significant overlap between autism and hEDS; tailoring support for clients and patients who have these co-occurring experiences can greatly improve outcomes. I have significant additional training in hEDS, MCAS, and dysautonomia, and I live with these conditions personally as well. Much of my approach is about improving quality of life while living with chronic conditions, and so includes both practical support and a focus on the mental/emotional experience and nervous system health.

EDS Healthcare in Tennessee

Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Autonomic Dysfunction Center in Nashville is particularly relevant for EDS patients with POTS and other forms of dysautonomia. The Nashville area is growing in EDS resources. IU Health's EDS & HSD Clinic in Indianapolis is the nearest EDS Society Center of Excellence, about 4 hours from Nashville. Memphis patients may access programs in other regions.

Nashville has the strongest resources, but patients outside the Nashville and Memphis metro areas face limited access. Rural areas of East Tennessee, the Cumberland Plateau, and West Tennessee have very few providers familiar with EDS. The nearest Center of Excellence in Indianapolis requires significant travel.

Finding Integrative / Functional Medicine for EDS

Prioritize integrative practitioners with medical degrees (MD or DO) who combine evidence-based treatments with complementary approaches for EDS comorbidities like MCAS and dysautonomia.
