EDS Healthcare in Missouri

Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City is an EDS Society Center of Excellence and the primary dedicated EDS resource in Missouri. Washington University in St. Louis has a genetics department that can assist with connective tissue disorder evaluations, though it does not have a dedicated EDS program. Children's Mercy primarily serves pediatric patients but can provide referrals for adults.

EDS resources are concentrated in Kansas City, leaving central and southeastern Missouri with limited access. St. Louis-area patients are closer to programs in Indianapolis (IU Health) or Columbus (Nationwide Children's) than to Children's Mercy in Kansas City. Rural areas of the Ozarks and southeastern Missouri face the greatest challenges.

Finding Physical Therapy for EDS

When choosing a PT for EDS, ask whether they have experience with hypermobility and use stabilization-first protocols rather than standard stretching routines.
