To Empower U
About
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years experience as a psychotherapist. I believe that therapy works and people can make important change in their lives and their relationships. I am committed to accessibility, convenience, and safety (when health concerns limit travel). Towards that end, I set the same standards for my virtual services as in-office services – ensuring client privacy and offering warmth and attunement at every session. Services are delivered with compassion and respect. I draw from the most effective framework(s) and experiences to provide the therapy, support, education and inspiration needed to make change and live empowered! My coaching work is mostly drawn from my experience as a Master Trainer and Coach for Yale’s Center for Emotional Intelligence in their Ruler Program, in Social and Emotional Literacy Coaching. My psychotherapy practice is grounded in an integrative and relational framework, but I use advanced training in an array of approaches to serve my clients’ unique and varied needs. Some of these include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Food Allergy Informed Counseling, etc…I am particularly interested in and have developed a speciality in working with those living with chronic illness or pain (I.e. Ehlers Danlos, Food Allergies, IBDs, etc…)
EDS Healthcare in Florida
Mayo Clinic Jacksonville's dedicated EDS Clinic is an EDS Society Center of Excellence and serves as the anchor for EDS care in the Southeast. The Florida Association of Genetic Counselors supports genetic testing access statewide. Florida Medicaid covers genetic testing for connective tissue disorders with documented medical necessity.
Florida's size creates significant access disparities. The Mayo Clinic EDS program is in Jacksonville, which means patients in South Florida, Tampa Bay, or the Panhandle face drives of 4-8 hours. Wait times at the Mayo Clinic EDS Clinic can be 6 months or more. Telehealth follow-ups can help after an initial in-person evaluation.
Finding Mental Health for EDS
Look for a therapist who has worked with chronic illness patients and understands that EDS-related anxiety and depression often have physical triggers, not just psychological ones.
