TMJology
About
Hello! I am a licensed massage therapist with specialized training in TMJ and intra oral massage, neuromuscular therapy, myofunctional therapy, and a former dental assistant. My private practice, TMJology, is located in Denver, Colorado. My focus is TMJ and neuromuscular disorders. With my unique background, I have created a practice that incorporates massage as well as TMJ and jaw neuromuscular movement therapy. My goal is to help you learn about the why to your TMJ pain. I hear so often from my patients that they have been experiencing TMJ pain for years but they don’t know why. Together we will work to uncover your why and find the proper treatment. I know the importance of needing to know how you ended up in your current situation. Eleven years ago, my life changed in an instant. I was rear-ended by a car going 45 mph while I was at a complete stop. The impact left me with an anteriorly dislocated disc in my right jaw joint, causing a persistent clicking sound every time I opened my mouth. At first, it was just the clicking, but over time, the symptoms snowballed. Headaches, my jaw pulling to one side when I opened, discomfort with jaw movement, pain after long periods of talking. Like many, I was told to “just live with it.” That there was nothing that could be done. And for a long time, I believed that. I learned to “manage” my symptoms the best I could until I realized that I didn’t have to. You don’t have to just deal with it. I’ve taken everything I’ve learned from my own experience and dedicated my career to helping others find real relief. I’m here to listen, guide you toward solutions that actually help, and support you in living a life free of TMJ pain. It’s not all in your head! You don’t have to just “deal” with your symptoms. I am here to listen, find solutions and help you live a pain free life. While I am located in Colorado, I offer virtual programs so I can help patients from all over the world! I also offer training to practitioners who want to incorporate manual therapy into their practice to better treat their patients. I’m looking forward to working together!
EDS Healthcare in New York
The NYIT EDS/Hypermobility Treatment Center operates in Old Westbury and Central Islip, offering specialized rehabilitation and treatment. Mount Sinai South Nassau Chiari EDS Center in Oceanside focuses on EDS with Chiari malformation. Weill Cornell provides pain management expertise. New York Medicaid covers genetic testing with prior authorization. Wait times at major programs can be 6 months or longer.
Both EDS Centers of Excellence are on Long Island, leaving upstate New York significantly underserved. Patients in Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, and the Adirondacks face drives of 4-6+ hours to reach these programs. Wait times of 6 months or more are common. Rural upstate access is very limited, and telehealth is important for follow-up care.
Finding Dental / TMJ / Orofacial for EDS
Let the provider know upfront that you may need extra local anesthetic and frequent breaks, since EDS patients often have medication resistance and jaw instability during procedures.
