About
I opened my own private direct care (a.k.a. cash pay) rheumatology clinic in Newburgh, IN of July 2025 out of demand from patients and need to use my skills outside of taking care of my small children. I have learned a lot about genetic testing and symptom management for EDS patients in the few months I have been open and able to provide care for this underserved population in our area. By serendipity, I have developed a strong working relationship with a physical therapy practice in town who also specializes in hypermobility.
EDS Healthcare in Indiana
IU Health's EDS & HSD Clinic in Indianapolis, led by Dr. Clair Francomano, is an EDS Society Center of Excellence and a national leader in EDS care. Dr. Brad Tinkle at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital provides pediatric expertise. Forefront Therapy in Evansville is another Center of Excellence. The EDS Network of the Midwest in South Bend is a Network of Excellence. IU Health also operates an EDS ECHO hub, extending training to providers across the region.
While Indiana has excellent EDS resources in Indianapolis, Evansville, and South Bend, patients in rural areas between these cities still face travel challenges. Wait times at IU Health's EDS clinic can be significant given its national reputation and the volume of out-of-state referrals it receives.
Finding Rheumatology for EDS
Ask whether the rheumatologist uses the 2017 hEDS diagnostic criteria and has experience distinguishing EDS from other hypermobility spectrum disorders.
