EDS Healthcare in Oklahoma
Oklahoma has no EDS Society Center of Excellence or dedicated connective tissue disorders program. The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City has a genetics department. Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City is the nearest Center of Excellence. UT Southwestern in Dallas also offers EDS expertise and may be more accessible for southern Oklahoma patients.
Oklahoma's rural areas, particularly in the western and southeastern parts of the state, have very limited specialist access. Oklahoma City and Tulsa patients must travel out of state for dedicated EDS care. Telehealth is important for connecting with out-of-state specialists.
Finding Mental Health for EDS
Look for a therapist who has worked with chronic illness patients and understands that EDS-related anxiety and depression often have physical triggers, not just psychological ones.
