Muldowney Physical Therapy
About
Based in Cranston, Rhode Island, this physical therapy practice focuses on hypermobility, mast cell activation syndrome and more. Our practice treated over 100 EDS Patients per week. We use both manual therapy techniques to align the joints as well as our own exercise protocol specifically designed for the EDS population to strengthen every joint in the body.
EDS Healthcare in Rhode Island
Rhode Island does not have an EDS Society Center of Excellence or dedicated EDS program. Boston Children's Hospital's Connective Tissue Disorders Program and Massachusetts General Hospital are the nearest major resources, both within about an hour from Providence. Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School has some genetics resources through Rhode Island Hospital.
Rhode Island's compact geography means that most patients can reach Boston-area specialists within an hour. The main challenges are wait times at Boston programs and insurance considerations for out-of-state care. Rhode Island's small size means finding local EDS-experienced providers is difficult.
Finding Physical Therapy for EDS
When choosing a PT for EDS, ask whether they have experience with hypermobility and use stabilization-first protocols rather than standard stretching routines.
