Based in Troy, Michigan, this orthopedic / surgery practice focuses on hypermobility and pelvic floor dysfunction. We have multiple therapists educated in EDS as well as other connective tissue disorders that affect joint stability and impact daily function. We have presented to EDS support groups and work one on one with patients to help diminish pain, increased strength and safely work toward patients goals. We have EDS specific Pilates classes taught by trained and certified Stott Pilates instructors. I personally work with pediatric through adult patients affected by EDS. I have additional training in Women’s Health (OB care as well as pelvic floor).

Michigan has no EDS Society Center of Excellence. The nearest is IU Health's EDS & HSD Clinic in Indianapolis. The Michigan Association of Genetic Counselors is active and can help connect patients with genetic evaluation resources. University of Michigan Health in Ann Arbor and other academic centers have genetics departments, though none have a dedicated EDS program.
Michigan patients must travel out of state for dedicated EDS care, with IU Health in Indianapolis being the nearest Center of Excellence. The Upper Peninsula is especially isolated from specialist resources. The Michigan Association of Genetic Counselors can help locate in-state genetic evaluation services.

Ask how many EDS patients the surgeon has operated on and whether they use modified wound closure techniques to account for tissue fragility and slower healing.
