Help & Hope Counseling - Tucson
About
Based in Tucson, Arizona, this mental health practice focuses on chronic pain. Transforming the Whole You — Mind, Body, and Relationships I help individuals and families—especially those in military and rural communities—move through trauma, grow through complex grief, and restore their most important relationships. I also help when drinking a little too much or turning to food feels like the only way to cope, working together to rebuild body trust and create healthier patterns. In addition, I support families navigating neurodivergence, developmental disabilities, and complex medical conditions—such as fibromyalgia, TBIm, PCOS, CKD and EDS—with understanding, practical tools, and compassion. I use a neurodivergent affirming framework and specialize in Play Therapy addressing trauma, anxiety, and concerns of neurodivergent individuals and families virtually (children ages 7-11). I use creative modalities with all ages to push past your comfort zone so you can grow and move from surviving to thriving. My primary expertise is as a Certified Trauma Therapist (Level 1), with a focus on C-PTSD, nervous system regulation, somatic integration, Flash Technique and parts work. I also specialize in complex grief from my years in hospice. I use play therapy and IFS to help clients of all ages process childhood trauma. My approach combines IFS, Play Therapy, Flash Technique and somatic, body-based modalities, and I offer biblical integration upon request. I will work with couples, reserving those limited spots for couples seeking faith-based support within a Gottman framework. With confidential, in-network telehealth (including TRICARE) , you can connect with a provider who understands your culture while being outside your local community —giving you both privacy and access when nearby options are limited. My approach to therapy: I offer a free 15-minute consultation to ensure a good fit. If I’m not the right provider, I’ll connect the client with another clinician in our team or the community. I’m also comfortable working with clients who are on the edge of outpatient versus IOP, providing extra sessions when needed and referring out if appropriate. EDS Healthcare in Arizona
The Center for Complex Neurology, EDS & POTS in Phoenix, led by Dr. David Saperstein, follows over 2,500 EDS patients and is one of the most experienced EDS practices in the country. Mayo Clinic Scottsdale offers a connective tissue disorders program. The Arizona Genetics Alliance provides genetic counseling resources statewide.
While Phoenix and Scottsdale have strong EDS resources, Arizona's vast rural areas — particularly in the northern and eastern regions — face significant travel barriers to specialist care. AHCCCS (Arizona Medicaid) covers genetic testing including Rapid Whole Genome Sequencing, which is a notable benefit.
Finding Mental Health for EDS
Look for a therapist who has worked with chronic illness patients and understands that EDS-related anxiety and depression often have physical triggers, not just psychological ones.
