Caroline Rowlader Counseling

About

Caroline Rowlader, LPC-MHSP (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation in the state of Tennessee (License #4518). She works exclusively via telehealth with adults (ages 24+) navigating anxiety, perfectionism, mild depression, chronic health conditions, ADHD, and major life transitions. Caroline’s clients are often in the midst of big changes — whether that’s shifting careers, navigating relationships, or adjusting to evolving family roles. They tend to be self-aware, motivated for growth, and open to direct feedback and fresh perspectives. Many seek the flexibility, privacy, and accessibility that teletherapy offers. With lived experience of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, ADHD, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Caroline brings a chronic illness-informed lens to her work. She aligns with pro-choice and feminist values, and her approach is grounded in Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating principles. Caroline integrates Solution-Focused Therapy with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed Care, and Psychoeducation. She has provided counseling in a range of settings, including community mental health, substance abuse treatment, and private practice. She holds degrees from the University of Georgia and Columbus State University.

EDS Healthcare in New York

The NYIT EDS/Hypermobility Treatment Center operates in Old Westbury and Central Islip, offering specialized rehabilitation and treatment. Mount Sinai South Nassau Chiari EDS Center in Oceanside focuses on EDS with Chiari malformation. Weill Cornell provides pain management expertise. New York Medicaid covers genetic testing with prior authorization. Wait times at major programs can be 6 months or longer.

Both EDS Centers of Excellence are on Long Island, leaving upstate New York significantly underserved. Patients in Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, and the Adirondacks face drives of 4-6+ hours to reach these programs. Wait times of 6 months or more are common. Rural upstate access is very limited, and telehealth is important for follow-up care.

Finding Mental Health for EDS

Look for a therapist who has worked with chronic illness patients and understands that EDS-related anxiety and depression often have physical triggers, not just psychological ones.
