About

Bienestar Nutrition, LLC is a private practice located in central Florida specializing in integrating traditional medical nutrition therapy with complementary and alternative therapies for a whole-body, systems approach to healing. Our mission can be found in our name, Bienestar, which means well-being in the Spanish language. At Bienestar Nutrition we believe that well-being encompasses aspiring to a state of satisfaction with one’s body, food choices, identity and quality of life that provides peace of mind, pleasure, happiness, good health and welfare for the individual living with or without a chronic condition. Each individual has their own biological, physiological, genetic, cultural, stress, and socio-economical factors that shape their relationship and lived experience with food. This uniqueness makes everyone’s lived experience around nutrition different. At Bienestar Nutrition we believe a one-size-fit-all approach or ideology to not be appropriate for every individual and has the potential to create harm to the individual’s identity, preferences, and long-term health outcomes. Our focus is on providing a supportive and compassionate environment that honors and respects the individual’s culture, lived experience, and goals for care. Together, we collaborate on finding solutions to your nutritional concerns that are practical, realistic, and supportive to your individual needs. At Bienestar Nutrition we believe collaborative healthcare to be the most effective healthcare. With your consent, we may also collaborate with other members of your healthcare team or recommend appropriate referral to provide you with the most comprehensive and well-rounded approach to healing. With ongoing support, collaboration, and compassionate care when needed, we strive to provide you with the tools and resources needed for lifelong care, as well as, build a community where you do not have to feel like you are in this alone. Lisa is currently licensed to practice in Alabama, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, and North Carolina, USA. EDS Healthcare in Florida

Mayo Clinic Jacksonville's dedicated EDS Clinic is an EDS Society Center of Excellence and serves as the anchor for EDS care in the Southeast. The Florida Association of Genetic Counselors supports genetic testing access statewide. Florida Medicaid covers genetic testing for connective tissue disorders with documented medical necessity.

Florida's size creates significant access disparities. The Mayo Clinic EDS program is in Jacksonville, which means patients in South Florida, Tampa Bay, or the Panhandle face drives of 4-8 hours. Wait times at the Mayo Clinic EDS Clinic can be 6 months or more. Telehealth follow-ups can help after an initial in-person evaluation.

Finding Nutrition / Dietetics for EDS

Ask whether the dietitian has experience with the EDS-related conditions that affect eating, including gastroparesis, MCAS food triggers, and SIBO.
