New Ground Physical Therapy - Lake Oswego
At New Ground Physical Therapy, we take a whole-body approach to treating chronic pain, joint instability, and movement dysfunction—especially in those with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and generalized hypermobility. Our care goes beyond symptom management. Using Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) principles, we assess how your body’s alignment, breathing, and neuromuscular patterns interact to create either stress or stability. By improving areas of hypomobility and enhancing proprioceptive control, we can help reduce excessive strain on hypermobile joints. Each session is one-on-one and fully individualized to help you build strength, improve body awareness, and restore balanced movement patterns that last. Our goal is to help you move with less pain, better stability, and greater confidence in your daily life.

A Space for Reflection + Meaningful Change I offer in-person therapy in Portland Oregon, and I offer online therapy throughout Oregon and California. Therapy offers a quiet pause from the momentum of everyday life — a place to notice the patterns that shape how you live, relate, and understand yourself. In a thoughtful, engaged relationship, we make room for complexity and explore your experience with care, allowing new understandings to take form. People often come to therapy seeking change in their relationships, their work, or their relationship to themselves. My approach is grounded in the belief that two minds working together can make sense of complex emotional patterns in ways that are difficult to do alone. Relational psychodynamic therapy is a collaborative process in which we explore emotional and relational patterns as they emerge — both in your life outside therapy and in the here-and-now of our work together. By developing a deeper understanding of unconscious processes, early attachments, and how these shape present-day experiences, new possibilities for change can begin to take form. Patterns that feel disruptive or limiting often originate in early relationships and operate outside of conscious awareness. I understand the therapy relationship as an opportunity to observe, experience, and work through these patterns in real time. Within this space, you may find opportunities to relate to yourself and others with greater flexibility, clarity, and freedom. Core areas of my clinical work: Chronic Pain or illness Depression, anxiety , or persistent emotional discomfort Challenges in intimate relationships Loneliness , isolation, or difficulty being with oneself Experiences of grief and loss Divorce, breakups, and relational transitions Family conflict or the impact of complex family systems Managing the demands of high-pressure careers Trauma and its long-term emotional patterns Questions around gender, sexuality, or desire Kink-allied and sex-positive concerns Navigating childfree identity or decisions around family Supporting or being connected to family members with severe mental illness The inner life of artists and creative people A desire to integrate mindfulness or a more reflective way of living

Ask Counseling LLC
My name is Elaine Korngold and I counsel individual adults and couples [online](https://askcounseling.com/teletherapy/) and in-person in my private practice, Ask Counseling LLC, in Oregon. I also treat clients online in Florida, South Carolina, Vermont, New Hampshire, and internationally. I help people process complex emotions, build resilience, and adopt new behaviors as they deal with issues related to: Existential or other [Trauma and Acute Traumatic Stress](https://askcounseling.com/brainspotting/), [Finances](https://askcounseling.com/financial-therapy/) for individuals and [couples](https://askcounseling.com/financial-therapy-for-couples/), [Career](https://askcounseling.com/career-counseling/), [ADHD, ](https://askcounseling.com/adhd-counseling/)Autism, [Neurodiversity](https://askcounseling.com/neurodiverse-couples-counseling/), [Relationships](https://askcounseling.com/couples-counseling/), [Life transitions](https://askcounseling.com/life-transitions/), including [parenting](https://askcounseling.com/parenting-teenagers-adult-children/), grief and loss, or [immigration](https://askcounseling.com/immigration-acculturation/) adjustments, and [Athletic performance ](https://askcounseling.com/sports-counseling/)and physical health. I integrate [Brainspotting](https://askcounseling.com/brainspotting/) therapy and [Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy](https://askcounseling.com/ifs-therapy/) / Parts Work in my practice to treat a wide variety of conditions including anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, [ADHD](https://askcounseling.com/adhd-counseling/) and Autism-related issues, phobias, chronic pain, PTSD and complex trauma, low self-esteem, money and career struggles, or relationship challenges. Brainspotting therapy is a powerful, focused brain-body treatment method that allows us to identify, process and release core neurophysiological sources of emotional and physical pain. We can access and heal unhealthy coping strategies associated with early childhood trauma or PTSD. Brainspotting helps clients move beyond trauma, focus on post traumatic growth, flourish, live abundantly, and make positive transitions. Internal Family Systems (IFS) model is an evidence-based psychotherapy based on the idea that we each have a family of parts living with us that can be healed with our Self energy. An IFS therapist helps clients get to know the parts that protect them. The client is supported in helping those parts to relax and to separate their feelings and beliefs from the client, in order to open more space inside and access Self energy. As this happens, clients spontaneously report feeling calm, curious and compassionate towards their parts. For monogamous heterosexual, [neurodiverse](https://askcounseling.com/neurodiverse-couples-counseling/), and gay and lesbian couples therapy, I integrate [Gottman Method Couples therapy](https://askcounseling.com/couples-counseling/) with [Intimacy From the Inside Out (IFIO) therapy](https://askcounseling.com/intimacy-from-the-inside-out-ifio-couples-therapy/) based on [IFS (parts work)](https://askcounseling.com/ifs-therapy/) to help heal deep emotional hurts that are triggered in intimate relationships. Gottman Method Couples therapy is evidence-based for gay and lesbian couples, offering successful results in improving relationship satisfaction. Neurodiverse or mixed neurology couples learn new skills by practicing tools from my [Neurodiverse Couples Counseling](https://askcounseling.com/neurodiverse-couples-counseling/) Certification and improve the quality of their relationship. [Couples needing Financial Therapy](https://askcounseling.com/financial-therapy-for-couples/) learn how to have difficult money conversation while managing conflict in healthy ways. By focusing on each person’s unique strengths, we develop practical, creative, and immediate solutions, and build self-reliance and confidence. In sessions, I incorporate body awareness, grounding, and self-care. Making a life change is not trivial at any age, and you may wonder if it is even possible. Fortunately, according to neuroscience, our brains have the capacity to learn, grow, and change in every stage of life, and in that, there is hope. You can teach an old dog new tricks! In our initial sessions together we will develop your unique, clear, and measurable treatment plan that includes your personal goals, the behaviors you want to change, the negative beliefs that hold you back, and the difficult past events and traumas that you want to overcome. As we proceed with treatment, we will track and re-assess these periodically, until your objectives are met and your therapeutic journey is complete. You will always know where you are in the treatment process. In a space free of shame and judgment, we can address your life, work, money, or relationship issues, with psychotherapy customized for your individual needs. At Ask Counseling, you can ask [Elaine Korngold](https://askcounseling.com/elaine-korngold-therapist/) anything! I look forward to working with you.

Dr. Rachel has been in practice as a Doctor of Physical Therapy for ten years. Her career has taken her across the country, working in many Physical Therapy settings. She discovered her true calling in the Physical Therapy field when she began to study and treat Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunctions (TMJ), Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (Including EDS) and Pelvic Floor Dysfunctions. Treatment of these conditions are highly specialized and have required significant additional training. Dr. Rachel has also attended many specialized courses for the treatment and management of TMJ, hypermobility and pelvic floor dysfunction. Although it may appear that these conditions are not related, the opposite is in fact true! This does not imply that having one condition automatically means having the others, but there is a frequent overlap among these conditions. Dr. Rachel’s practice is rooted in creativity and discovery. As her patients will attest, her treatment methods frequently involve novel and inventive solutions as well as traditional methods to alleviate pain, enhance mobility and resolve various issues. Dr. Rachel is passionate about identifying the underlying cause of an individual’s complaints. She views the body as an integrated whole, acknowledging the interconnectedness within the body. This often means that one’s complaints manifest in more than one isolated location. She works hard to discover, treat and empower her patients to manage their body as a whole. She is committed to helping her patients discover the best ways to reach their goals.

Dazzling Spoons Counseling
I work with professional women who have chronic pain and/or chronic illnesses, many of whom have experienced some combination of being ignored, misdiagnosed, and gaslighted. My clients are trying to be kind to themselves, to trust themselves, and to find ways to get the support that they need without having to prove that their pain is real or that they’re trying hard enough. Before they came to see me, they feared they were out of options. They worried coming to see me would mean being told the same thing they’d heard so many times before, without any interest in or understanding of their actual experience: “Think more positive,” “lose weight,” and “just do yoga.” And they were pretty sure they’d never find someone who would believe them. Like my clients, you deserve to have a doctor’s appointment that doesn’t leave you in tears. And getting the accommodations and support you need to succeed at work doesn’t have to be totally out of your reach. I believe that all bodies are good bodies, and that includes your body. If you want to learn to be kind to and trust yourself—to believe that you are not and have never been the problem—I’d love to help you get there.

Heart Strings Therapy - Portland
My practice specializes in supporting individuals with EDS and chronic illnesses, offering a compassionate space to work through the unique challenges of these conditions. I am a licensed psychologist and have multi-state license in both California (#33158) and Oregon (#4026). I offer telehealth appointments throughout Oregon and California, as well as in-person availability in Ventura, CA. I understand that the physical pain, fatigue, and uncertainty of EDS can make it hard to get through daily life, let alone manage the endless stream of medical appointments and advocacy demands. Many of my clients come to me feeling emotionally isolated, burned out, and grieving the loss of a life they once envisioned. Together, we explore ways to reclaim control, build resilience, and create a life that honors your reality without losing sight of hope. Through therapy, I help clients: Process the grief and emotional weight of living with a chronic illness. Develop tools to manage stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. Strengthen self-compassion and reduce the isolation that comes with invisible conditions. Learn strategies to cope with the unpredictability of symptoms while finding joy and meaning in life again. You’ve likely spent so much energy trying to hold it all together—managing your symptoms, keeping up with life, and trying to be understood by those around you. What if you didn’t have to spend every ounce of energy just surviving? Together, we’ll carve out a path that helps you find moments of calm, connection, and clarity, even amidst the challenges of EDS. As a person with hEDS, I have the lived experience of the nuance and mystery of hypermobility. In my clinical practice, I find it extremely rewarding to work with all types of EDS, because of its relationship to connective tissue and the nervous system. I blend Swedish techniques (to relax the body and mind) with targeted myofascial release (to mitigate connective tissue dysfunction) and neuromuscular therapies (to ensure proper function of all stabilizing muscles and elimination of trigger points). I also find that applying craniosacral therapy with EDS clients assists in gently realigning the bones and structures of the spine, skull, pelvis, as well as the rest of the body. I am always seeking to improve clients’ proprioception and internal awareness, while alleviating pain. I also teach bodywork at the local massage college, and am excited to share information and self care strategies with my clients, particularly since I myself have recovered from many hypermobility-related injuries and dysfunctions. I hope to provide holistic support in accessing easeful movement, helpful resources, and increased quality of life. Lemongrass Chiropractic
Lemongrass Chiropractic offers a patient-centered, evidence-informed approach, blending traditional and innovative techniques to provide effective, gentle treatments. We are known for our expertise and compassionate care, and are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of our community from our clinic in Portland, Oregon, USA. Treating clinician Dr. Emily Todd is a person with mild HSD herself (and some of the common comorbidities of HSD), and as such understands the delicate nature of treating hypermobility, especially with chiropractic care. Your intuition and body sense are welcome and wanted in the treatment room, Dr. Emily knows that when a person is hypermobile, things can shift day to day, and what was a good idea for treatment last week may be the wrong choice today. You will never be pressured to receive treatment or adjustments that don’t feel good to your body, or to receive more care than what the body needs today. Dr. Emily offers gentle adjusting techniques including repetitive mobilization and instrument-assisted adjusting, in addition to more traditional chiropractic adjustments, to provide the blend of treatment that works for all parts of the hypermobile system.

I’m passionate about helping individuals with EDS and the interconnected triad of MCAS, and POTS understand the root causes behind their complex symptoms. Having personally recovered from this triad myself, I recognize that these conditions aren’t separate problems but interconnected expressions of disrupted cellular energy and environmental mismatch. My approach focuses on addressing EDS as the foundational connective tissue instability that often triggers the immune hyperreactivity of MCAS and autonomic dysfunction of POTS. Rather than just managing symptoms, I work with clients to restore their body’s bioenergetic capacity through environmental optimization, including light therapy, EMF mitigation, and circadian rhythm support. As a Board Certified Quantum Biology Practitioner, I believe every person deserves to understand their body’s incredible capacity for healing when given the right environmental conditions. Through education and individualized care, my clients gain the knowledge and tools needed to break free from the cycles that keep them trapped in chronic illness. Services include environmental assessments/mitigation, red light therapy, and personalized education and coaching protocols. Based in Portland, Oregon, serving clients nationwide.

Meredith Noble Counseling LLC
I offer virtual counseling to those within the state of Oregon. I live with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Postural Tachycardia Syndrome, and Mast Cell Activation Disorder. I know the misogyny, hostility, disinterest, gaslighting, and fatphobia that occur routinely within the medical system, and the tolls these can take on mental health—as if the tolls of living with pain and illness aren’t enough! I am here to accompany you in your experiences of chronic illness and chronic pain. We can explore the emotional impacts (like grief, anger, sadness), process experiences of disability and ableism, and help you find moments of contentment and joy despite bodily obstacles. Open Door Healthcare
I believe that everyone can achieve a greater degree of health, be it physical (increased energy, reduced pain, more restful sleep), mental (greater concentration and mental clarity), or emotional (greater calm and sense of humor). I want patients to feel better on a day-to-day basis as well as be healthier for the rest of their lives. Being licensed as both a Naturopathic physician and a Chinese Medical practitioner, I am able to combine the best of both of the diagnostic skills and treatment methods of these unique but complementary health care systems. Training in Cranial Fluid Dynamics and Reiki provides me with additional tools to facilitate healing on deeper energetic levels and treat the whole person. I approach every patient with both short-term and long-term goals. The short-term goal is to reduce current symptoms to improve immediate health. This goal is often achieved by education and making changes in a patient’s lifestyle, such as nutrition, elimination, body mechanics, and psychological outlook. The long-term goal is to discover and treat the underlying cause of a patient’s condition/symptoms to create lasting improvement and truly prevent future disease. This goal is often achieved by understanding a patient’s personal history, heredity, temperament, and constitution to stimulate the vital healing force within each patient. This vital force is what truly generates health, and thus, the patient, and not the doctor, ultimately accomplishes the healing. My role is to educate and empower patients to be more active and responsible in their health care, and to recommend treatments that will support and encourage this natural and wise healing process. I provide knowledge, facilitate understanding, and inspire hope by creating healthy partnerships with each patient. I look forward to meeting you and discovering your unique path toward health.

When Paul’s then-girlfriend (now wife) was diagnosed with chronic pain due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, he delved whole-heartedly into the world of wellness. Accompanying her to various treatments he was particularly inspired by the care she received from chiropractors and the pain relief she had after visits, so he determined that he too would become a healer. Dr. Paul works not only with people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome but all people who want relief from pain or just want to feel the best that they can. In addition to treating adults he also enjoys working with children and the elderly. He received his bachelor’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University and graduated from University of Western States with a doctorate in chiropractic in 2014.

Waning Crescent, LLC - Portland
Active Pain Relief
We are an integrative pain management clinic specializing in non-opioid pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches to chronic pain. Our focus includes the treatment of ligamentous instability and joint hypermobility, which are often associated with significant, persistent pain. One of our core therapies is ultrasound-guided injection of Platelet Poor Plasma (PPP) , a regenerative technique that has shown excellent results in reducing pain and improving joint stability in patients with ligament laxity. We also offer prolotherapy , another proven method to stimulate healing in weakened connective tissues. Ultrasound guidance ensures precise delivery of these treatments to the affected structures, enhancing effectiveness and patient outcomes. For patients for whom injection therapies are not appropriate, we provide individualized non-opioid pharmacologic pain management tailored to each person’s specific condition and goals. While we do not currently treat comorbidities associated with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), we have had notable success in managing the pain related to joint hypermobility and ligament laxity often seen in hypermobile patients. Our goal is to restore function, reduce pain, and improve quality of life using safe, evidence-informed therapies.
