Kelsey Bates is a licensed professional counselor specialized in working within the women’s chronic illness space. New York Women’s CBT provides both individual and group therapy for women navigating complex chronic illness. Kelsey founded New York Women’s CBT with the goal of meeting women where they are, supporting them in the midst of pain and providing tools for them to stop just surviving and start thriving. Kelsey’s clients navigate women’s health issues such as Hypermobile Spectrum Disorder, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, POTS, dysautonomia, pelvic pain, endometriosis, adenomyosis, chronic pain, chronic illness, autoimmune issues as well as as anxiety, depression, grief and loss. Kelsey utilizes a client centered approach, rooted in psychodynamic processing and third wave trauma informed cognitive behavioral techniques including CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Kelsey earned her Master’s degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She went on to complete her residency for licensure in New York City, working in both non-profit and private practice settings. Kelsey received training from the Ellis Institute in Manhattan in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and is recognized as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, National Certified Counselor and member of the American Counseling Association.
