Atlanta, GA · Mental Health
Dr. Amanda Feinstein (she/her) is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of chronic pain and medical trauma in adolescents and young adults. She moved from Northern California to Atlanta, Georgia in June 2023. She was on faculty as an attending psychologist in the Pediatric Pain Management Clinic at Stanford University School of Medicine for 6 years, while maintaining a private practice serving patients in CA. She is now on staff part-time at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in the Pediatric Chronic Pain Clinic, and maintains a private psychology practice. Although physically located in Atlanta and licensed in GA, she also maintains the PSYPACT psychology license which allows her to serve patients via telehealth in 30+ states. Dr. Feinstein’s research has historically focused on resilience factors in young people with chronic pain, as well as the unique challenges faced by adolescents and young adults with chronic pain, and healthcare transitions. She has recently begun partnering with colleagues at several institutions on EDS research focused on movement-based therapies. Clinically, she has a strong interest in providing psychological support and coping skills for adolescents and young adults with chronic pain in general, and specifically with EDS and HSDs. Her priority is providing a supportive and validating environment for her clients, given the pain and functional challenges faced by persons with EDS/HSDs, as well as the invalidation and stigma that many patients experience in their medical journey.

The Chronic Illness Therapist
Atlanta, GA · Mental Health
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (LPC, CRC) who specializes in the psychological impact of living with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, hypermobility spectrum disorders, and related conditions including POTS, MCAS, gastroparesis, and chronic fatigue. I bring both clinical expertise and lived experience with chronic illness to this work. I understand that EDS affects every system in your body, not just your joints, and that you’re likely managing medical trauma from years of being dismissed, the grief of adjusting to limitations, the exhaustion of coordinating care across multiple specialists, and the anxiety of living in a body that feels unpredictable. My approach is biopsychosocial, meaning I won’t minimize your physical symptoms or tell you it’s “just anxiety,” but I also won’t ignore the very real emotional toll of navigating complex, multi-system illness. You won’t need to spend our time together educating me about what EDS is or defending your symptoms. I believe you. Virtual sessions available at www.thechronicillnesstherapists.com

Heart Strings Therapy - Portland
Portland, OR · Mental Health
My practice specializes in supporting individuals with EDS and chronic illnesses, offering a compassionate space to work through the unique challenges of these conditions. I am a licensed psychologist and have multi-state license in both California (#33158) and Oregon (#4026). I offer telehealth appointments throughout Oregon and California, as well as in-person availability in Ventura, CA. I understand that the physical pain, fatigue, and uncertainty of EDS can make it hard to get through daily life, let alone manage the endless stream of medical appointments and advocacy demands. Many of my clients come to me feeling emotionally isolated, burned out, and grieving the loss of a life they once envisioned. Together, we explore ways to reclaim control, build resilience, and create a life that honors your reality without losing sight of hope. Through therapy, I help clients: Process the grief and emotional weight of living with a chronic illness. Develop tools to manage stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. Strengthen self-compassion and reduce the isolation that comes with invisible conditions. Learn strategies to cope with the unpredictability of symptoms while finding joy and meaning in life again. You’ve likely spent so much energy trying to hold it all together—managing your symptoms, keeping up with life, and trying to be understood by those around you. What if you didn’t have to spend every ounce of energy just surviving? Together, we’ll carve out a path that helps you find moments of calm, connection, and clarity, even amidst the challenges of EDS.
