Godfrey-Smith Counseling
Washington, DC · Mental Health
Are you navigating the intersection of being chronically ill, queer, and/or neurodivergent in a world that doesn’t seem to have been built for you? Learning to love all the parts of yourself is so much more challenging when you’re surrounded by systems and structures that aren’t affirming or flexible. Many of us in these communities navigate issues such as sensory sensitivity, relationship struggles, chronic dysregulation, and executive dysfunction. As a queer neurodivergent person with EDS, I understand the complexities and unique challenges you may face. Compassion is at the center of my approach. I offer therapy through telehealth to be accessible even amidst a flare. I provide both individual and couples therapy.

Hypermobile Friendly Workouts
Washington, DC · Movement / Exercise
Eva has dedicated her career to helping others with hypermobility and hEDS find their way back to movement – not through force or generic fitness protocols, but through strategy, education, and true support. Eva has worked with dozens of hypermobile clients of all ages and abilities, helping them return to the activities they love, move through life with more confidence, and reduce the daily pain that comes from living in an unstable body. Eva has established two hypermobile-friendly businesses in the last 6 years. The first was The Line Method in 2019 – the only Pilates studio in Washington, DC to specialize in Hypermobility. In 2022, Eva created Fitness Foundations for Hypermobility, a focused Teacher Training Intensive, to give instructors structured and accessible techniques on training individuals with hypermobility disorders. It became clear to Eva that Hypermobile individuals all over the world were lacking accessible resources to build strength and support for their bodies. She launched Hypermobile Friendly Workouts – a fully virtual, hypermobility-specific training platform – to fill this void.

Mix Thomas Therapy

I am a therapist and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) proudly serving LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and chronically ill communities in DC/MD/VA. I understand the huge overlap of EDS and HSD with neurodivergence and queerness, and I love being able to help people feel seen where all of their identities intersect. I specialize in working with folks who identify under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella , including gender identity, chronic illness as well as individuals and couples who practice polyamory, consensual non-monogamy, kink/BDSM. I see clients virtually and in person in my office in Washington DC.

I treat adults with Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, OCD and PTSD. I also see patients with chronic complex conditions such as EDS, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and Dysautonomia. While I see patients with these conditions my main focus is psychiatry and how these complex conditions affect mental health through medication management and lifestyle modifications.

Set Physical Therapy - Metro Center
Washington, DC · Physical Therapy
Set Physical therapy is a one-on-one practice with two locations within Washington, DC. Our physical therapists spend one hour in a private room with patients and do not use any accessory staff for treatment. We have multiple providers who are very experienced in treating EDS beyond myself. We use a combination of techniques including manual therapy, strength and stability exercises, postural re-education, trigger point dry needling, cupping, taping, Class IV laser, MSK ultrasound, extensive patient education, and more. We pride ourselves on helping our patients to better understand their conditions – particularly more complex conditions such as EDS, HSD, and POTS – so that they can be as involved in their treatment plan as possible.
Physical Therapy Orthopedic / Surgery Hypermobility Pots Chronic Pain
The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics
Washington, DC · Orthopedic / Surgery
I am a Fellowship-trained Hand and Upper Extremity Surgeon and Peripheral Nerve Surgeon. I have dozens of patients with EDS and other connective tissue disorders linked to hypermobility and over a decade of experience treating EDS. We have on-site hand therapy and physical therapy and coordinate care with our therapists to include bracing, splinting, activity modification and medical/injection therapy as needed. My bias is towards conservative care and working around some of the difficult issues faced by EDS patients by being creative with approaches to functional activities, but perform surgery when necessary, with an understanding that EDS patients need to be rehabbed and treated differently from the general population. I am often in the situation of making the initial diagnosis of EDS in many patients and referring them for a appropriate genetic screening. From a surgical standpoint, I am highly experienced in both arthroscopic and open shoulder stabilization procedures; peripheral nerve decompression in both upper and lower extremities; and complex hand/wrist/elbow reconstruction.
