Individuals with hypermobility spectrum conditions like hEDS (hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) often experience voice difficulties and swallowing challenges that are frequently dismissed or misunderstood by medical providers. In collaboration with you and your care team, we offer targeted therapy that accounts for the unique impacts of joint instability and connective tissue differences and puts you at the center of your care and symptom management. Specialized care for the voice and upper airway seeks to improve vocal control, reduce strain, manage throat discomfort, and improve swallowing ease and efficiency. Clare Henderson (they/she) is a specialist SLP with both professional and lived experience with hEDS. They have worked in voice/upper airway practice exclusively since 2020, and in acute care settings prior to that. She commonly sees clients with complex medical histories and chronic illness, and also specializes in gender-affirming voice care. She enjoys working with singers in a variety of styles, including those who “just” sing in the shower. Their practice is neurodiversity affirming, client-centered, holistic, and inclusive of the client’s culture, values, and identities. Your voice matters <3
