Core Pilates

About
I teach private sessions in a Pilates studio that also offers group and semi-private instruction. As a second career and following my own diagnosis with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, I became a comprehensively trained pilates teacher in order to learn more about the methodology and how I could use it to assist myself and others with pain management and the other complications resulting from EDS and HSD. I have completed an EDS Echo course with Jeannie Di Bon to further understand how some of the Pilates principles can be modified in order to assist those living with EDS and HSD in developing a successful movement practice. More recently, I have completed several of the courses offered by the Postural Restoration Institute in order to further understand how normal human asymmetries impact postural alignment and balance. I have found that the use of the non- manual techniques taught by the Institute can be very beneficial in developing a movement practice that improves postural balance and assists in calming the nervous system.
