Do more of what matters with integrative occupational therapy – let your nervous system recover, give your body space to heal, and allow your spirit the deep rest you need with a blend of somatic therapies, manual therapies, and classic occupational therapy approaches custom-tuned to your needs. Hi! I’m Mara Levy, and my pronouns are they/them. I want to build a better world, with more justice, safety, and joy for us all. I think an important way to get there is helping us heal, so we have more capacity to do good in the world. As each of us becomes more whole, we can spread ripples of well-being throughout the world. As an occupational therapist, I work with body, mind, spirit, spirit, identity, roles, community – basically everything that makes us human. I have a lot of specialized skills available, but all my treatment is in the service of helping my clients build their capacity to do the things they care about. Somatic therapies are mind-body care that can help you reconnect with your body, learn to feel safe, manage stress, and live a more meaningful life. Somatic Experiencing is my favorite approach, and can incorporate talk, self-touch, mindfulness, bodywork, movement, and more. Bodywork can help with physical issues like pain and fatigue, and can also help with mind-body challenges including nervous system regulation and trauma healing. All of my bodywork is intended to be pain-free, trauma-informed, and deeply relaxing. My specific modalities include lymphatic drainage massage, craniosacral therapy, neurolymphatic drainage, visceral manipulation, and myofascial release. Occupational therapy is the therapy of doing – we support people’s ability to do the things that matter to them. I incorporate traditional OT approaches to executive function support, sensory regulation, interoception building, and pacing education into my integrative practice. Learn to feel safe in your body, heal from trauma, and build the resilience you need to navigate trying times with holistic care that’s fat positive, queer and trans celebrating, neurodiversity affirming, antiracist, and liberation centered. Break The Frame Therapy
Silver Spring, MD · Mental Health
Break the Frame Therapy is a neurodivergent-, queer-, and chronic-illness-affirming practice for people who are tired of being told their bodies are “too much” and their symptoms are “all in their head.” We specialize in working with clients living with hEDS, MCAS, POTS , and other complex, often misunderstood chronic health conditions—especially when those experiences intersect with trauma, neurodivergence, identity, medical burnout, and systemic harm. We understand the grief of a body that won’t cooperate, the exhaustion of constant self-advocacy, and the quiet rage of navigating systems that weren’t built for you—because we live in these bodies too. Our clinicians bring both lived experience and advanced professional training to the therapy room. Our work integrates EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), feminist and anti-oppressive frameworks , and identity-affirming care for Autistic and ADHD adults, queer and trans clients, people in nontraditional relationships, and those navigating chronic illness alongside mental health concerns. We work gently and intentionally with complex trauma, medical trauma, attachment wounds, eating disorders, chronic stress, burnout, grief, and nervous system dysregulation. Sessions are paced with energy limitations in mind and shaped to honor fluctuating capacity, flare days, and the reality that healing is not linear. At Break the Frame, therapy isn’t about pushing through pain or gaslighting yourself into “positivity.” It’s about learning how to live in relationship with your body, rebuilding trust with your nervous system, and reclaiming agency in a world that often prioritizes productivity over care. You deserve therapy that understands complexity—medically, psychologically, socially, and humanly. This is care that believes you.
